william damhoffWilliam “Bill” Gilbert Damhoff, 58, of Morrison, IL, died Monday July 25, 2016, at C.G.H. Medical Center in Sterling, IL, the result of a motorcycle accident.

Bill was born October 7, 1957, in Morrison, to Gilbert J. and Frances T. (Buikema) Damhoff.  He was educated in the Lyndon, IL, grade schools and was a 1975 graduate of Prophetstown High School in Prophetstown, IL.  He married Lynette R. Miles on May 30, 1981, in Morrison.  Bill was employed at Commonwealth Edison since March 1979.  He was a life-long member of Emmanuel Reformed Church in Morrison, where he served as a Sunday School teacher, Deacon, and Elder.  He also served on the Honduras Mission team.  When Bill was younger he was a member of the Lyndon Loyal Leaders 4-H Club.  He enjoyed many outdoor activities.  Bill enjoyed the time spent with his children and grandchildren.  His grandchildren were the light of his life.  He was known as the “naughty” grandpa.

Survivors include his wife, Lynette; daughters, Maegwin (Andrew) Winkelman of Plano, IL, and Lindsay (Kevin) Buis of Morrison; son, Dr. Thomas Coster (Dr. Heather) Damhoff of Louisville, KY; six grandchildren, Nicholas, Cara, and Jonah Winkelman, Evelyn Grace Damhoff, Branden and Peyton Buis; mother, Frances Damhoff; sisters, Susan (Dan) Eyrich of Prophetstown and Sally (Rick) Johannsen of Morrison; brothers, Russ (Jackie) Damhoff of Dixon, IL, Rodney Damhoff of Morrison, and Mike (Kim) Damhoff of Morrison; brother-in-law, Gary Kos of Washington, IA; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Gilbert; brother, Douglas Damhoff; sister, Faye Kos.

FUNERAL SERVICE:  10:00 a.m., Friday, July 29, 2016, at Emmanuel Reformed Church in Morrison, IL

OFFICIATING:  Rev. Rich Davis, Pastor of Emmanuel Reformed Church

VISITATION:  4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 28, 2016, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home

INTERMENT:  Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison, IL
