Did you see the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile at Sullivan’s Foods today, Friday, August 29, 2025? Did you take a photo? Did you receive a red, wienermobile whistle? Did you notice the shape of the vehicle is a smile?
During the visit, from noon until 3:00 p.m., Sullivan’s staff grilled Oscar Mayer hot dogs for $1, instead of their usual Friday grill food.
Six Wienermobiles in six regions of the United States cover the Country all year long, with breaks for holidays. Teams of one male and one female are called “Hotdoggers;” they take turns driving. Destinations are determined my management, but weekly schedules follow a pattern: Monday, DRIVE; Tuesday and Wednesday, OFF DAYS; Thursday through Sunday, appearances and events. Hotdoggers may spontaneously include an additional, pop-up appearance in a City, if it fits into their schedule.
Because their schedule is intensive, teams only work one year.
Humor and plays on the hot dog theme crop up a lot. The license plate read, “OH I WISH.” Remember the jingle? The other Wienermobile plates say, “OURDOG,” “YUMMY,” “WEENR,” “WNRMBLE,” and “OscarMayer.”

Even the company ambassadors have nicknames: Emma, aka “Miles of Smiles,” and Jack, aka “JackandCheese.” He stated, “We love it [the job]! We RELISH the opportunity.” A friend-of-a-friend was a Hotdogger; she told Jack about this unique job. His Grandma said he should apply. “We are 12 LUCKY DOGS who got to become Hotdoggers.”
Emma started in June. “I have learned so much about people! I feel that’s a big part of this job. There are adventures to be had in every City. The [Morrison] Community is awesome! The entire kindergarten and first grade kids came through, to see their first Wienermobile!” Are there problems with this job? “It’s hard to find a parking space. We make sure ahead of time wherever we go, to be able to park.”
Jack continued, “There are 10,000 requests to visit every year. We do other things, too–we give out fun swag”–including the iconic Weiner whistle.

Morrison resident Mary Ellen Brackemyer noted this is the third Wienermobile she has seen. It is the Editor’s third visit, too, and she owns two vintage whistles.
