New construction in Morrison, IL, is always a fine thing to watch.  One such site is on the north side of U. S. Route 30, west of Farmers National Bank.  Local subcontractors are on the job.

On Wednesday, August 28, 2024, there were four walls standing at the future Tractor Supply Company store, stated Mike Everly on the same day.  He is Manager-in-Training at the Dixon, IL, TSC store and lives in Dixon.  For a decade, Everly was Store Manager at Walgreens.

“Currently,” he stated, “I’m super involved with the community.”  His family will move to Morrison.

“We’re 14 weeks from a soft opening and about 18 weeks from the Grand Opening in December or January [2025].   I will hire 15 to 20 [new employees].  Tractor Supply Company has [online] applications and will do interviews very soon.  They have a recruiter and will publicize job ads.”  For information see the website www.tractorsupply.com.

Although the TSC product lines may overlap some of local merchants’ inventory, “We have a lot stuff in my store that isn’t available at other hardware stores.  I want everybody to buy local.”

Hunters will find accessories, apparel, and Carhartt and Ariat clothing.  The Hunting Pod will sell mineral blocks for animals.

Farmers will find tractor pins and 3-point attachments; parts and accessories; livestock handling equipment; corral panels; gates.

Lots of merchandise involves wheels:  trailers sales and rentals, lawn mowers, mini bikes, Massino Jeeps and UTVs, and golf carts.

Everly said TSC will donate chain saw shavings for Whiteside County Fair animal pens.

Another product line is Animal Feed:  cattle, dog, cat, horse, and poultry.  They sell a variety of live chicks, ducks, geese, and turkeys.  Feed is differentiated for chickens:  starter feed and specific feeds “to fit the length of life needed for the birds.”  Chicken houses and fencing are also available.

Two bays in the Pet Wash Station allow owners to wash their cat or dog, with provided soap and water, restraining collars, and blow driers.

Everly discussed with the Editor an option to stock the Garden Area with spring food plants and herbs, so as not to compete with local tree and floral businesses.

To bring community members together, Tractor Store Company hosts Farmers Markets and gatherings where people meet to sell or swap items.
