Viola Mae Ottens-Koster, 96, of Morrison, IL, died Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at Resthave Care & Rehabilitation in Morrison.

Viola was born April 21, 1929, in Clinton, IA, to Henry C. and Grace A. (Bonneur) Ottens. She was educated in the Union Grove grade school in rural Whiteside County and was a 1947 graduate of Morrison High School. Viola worked as a Bookkeeper at Volckman Manufacturing Company in Morrison, and later served as a Secretary at an Army base in Arizona. She was a past member of First Christian Reformed Church in Fulton, IL, and Morrison Christian Reformed Church. She was a current member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sterling, where she faithfully served as Organist. Music was a lifelong passion for Viola. She shared her gift by playing the organ and piano at many churches for more than 70 years. She also generously gave her time as a volunteer at CGH Medical Center in Sterling for over 38 years. Viola especially enjoyed attending her nieces’ and nephews’ extracurricular activities and supporting them in all they did.
Survivors include her sister, Irma (Robert) Brands of Morrison; nieces, Kathy (Robert) Eagle, Diane (Steve) Hendrickson, and Karen (Jim) Marshall; nephew, David (Marcia) Brands; five great-nieces and great-nephews, Stacy, Mitch, Ben, Amber, and Anna; many great-great- and great-great-great-nieces and -nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mary Jane Fiet; brother in law, Fred Fiet; great-nephew, Zachary Eagle.
A Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home.
Her Funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m., with Ken Renkes officiating.
Interment will be at Fulton Township Cemetery, Fulton, IL.
A memorial has been established to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sterling, IL.
