“All suspects are in custody now,” Sheriff John F. Booker reported on Thursday, July 3, 2025, a day after his July 2, press release.  Emillio Castro (18) and Ethon Hemminger (18), both of Rock Falls, IL, turned themselves in at the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office.

He stated, “The Sheriff’s Office is still conducting follow-up interviews regarding this alleged violent incident.  As Sheriff, I know there are additional witnesses who may be fearful to come forward.  I strongly encourage anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 815-625-7867.  You can remain anonymous.  Or contact the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office at 815-772-4044.

“Because this investigation is still very much ongoing, we are not releasing all of the details at this time.  We ask for the public’s understanding and patience, as we work to complete a thorough and fair investigation.

“I also want to thank the many citizens who have reached out to express their support and appreciation for our efforts.  Your partnership and trust mean a great deal to us.  The men and women of the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office remain committed to working hard every day to keep our County safe.

“We will continue to follow every lead, speak to every witness, and do everything we can to bring justice in this case.  Our priority is–and always will be–the safety and well-being of our community.”
