USCensus2020The 24th United States Census began April 1, and is required to conclude December 31, 2020.  As of Wednesday, August 5, 72.7 % of Whiteside County residences have submitted their 2020 Census data.  In 2010 the final response was 74.7%.    

One metric of the ongoing 2020 Census will determine population changes since 2010.  The April 1, 2010, United States Census recorded the population of Whiteside County, IL, to be 58,498.  The July 1, 2019, population was estimated at 55,175–a decline of 3323.

United States Census Bureau workers have been in Whiteside County, IL, since June 1.  They hang information packets on door knobs of residents who have not completed the Census 2020 form, and those residents who use a Post Office Box for their mailing address.  Workers wear Census 2020 shirts and required facial coverings.  They will not knock on doors or have face-to-face contact with citizens.
