Morrison Police Chief Brian Melton is proud to announce the Helmet Incentive Program again this year. The program started in 2009 to promote bicycle safety among our youth. It is only possible through the continued partnership and support of the DQ Grill & Chill owners Ellen and Bart Smith. This marks the program’s 10th year.
The Morrison Police Department’s Helmet Incentive Program offers an incentive to children, ages three to 16, who ear their helmet when bicycling.
Chief Melton explains, “Starting Friday, May 24, 2019, and through the summer months, any time a Morrison Police Officer observes a child between the ages of three and 16 safely riding their bicycle with their helmet on, the Officer will reward that child, with a coupon for free ice cream at DQ Grill & Chill in Morrison.” Melton continues, “We hope this program encourages our youth to wear their helmets and practice bicycle safety when riding.”
Melton closed with, “We are very grateful to the DQ Grill & Chill, Ellen and Bart Smith. and their staff for their continued support. Most importantly, we are excited about having the opportunity again this year, the tenth year for this program. We hope to reward even more children this year. So, wear your helmets, kids, and encourage others to do so as well!”
