Congressman Eric Sorensen delivered passionate remarks and tough questions, during a House Agriculture Committee hearing, focused on expanding opportunity through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP.)  In his testimony, the Congressman emphasized the real-world impact of proposed cuts to SNAP.  He pushed back on efforts to reduce assistance for families who rely on the program to survive.

“We’re looking at cuts that would affect everyone–from toddlers with disabilities, to Senior citizen heroes who fought for us in World War II.  These are real people,” said Congressman Sorensen.  “64,000 families in my District rely on SNAP to make ends meet, but this Administration seems to be just okay turning their backs on these real neighbors of mine.  [This is demonstrated by] fact that we’re even debating today whether some people deserve to be helped.”
