Ronald Sharp, Sr., 86, of Tampico, IL, passed away peacefully surrounded by family.

Born on August 27, 1938, in Lincoln, IL, Ronald was the son of Roy and Rosetta (Petro) Sharp.  He married the love of his life, Patsy Miller, on August 5, 1961, at the Church of Christ in Tampico, and together they shared many joyful years until her passing.

Ronald was a hardworking and dedicated man.  He was employed by Franz Manufacturing and later by Northwestern Steel and Wire, where he proudly worked until his retirement.  A man of many interests, he enjoyed fishing, playing pool, bowling, researching genealogy, and photography–passions he often shared with family and friends.

He was a faithful member of First Open Bible Church in Rock Falls, IL, where he found fellowship and community.

Ronald is survived by his children, Ronald “Bruce” Sharp, Jr. and Randy Sharp, both of Tampico, and Jill (Roy) Calkins of Rock Falls.   He is also survived by his sisters, Peggy Miller of Morrison, IL, Cora (Jim) Bellini of Sterling; sister-in-law, Deb Sharp of Rockford;  brothers, Roy (Shirley) Sharp, Jr., and John (Teresa) Moser, both of Sterling.

He was a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren, Brandy (Ronit) Prajapati, Michelle (Bruce) Peltier, Dakota (Allison) Sharp, Ashley (Chris) Frey, Tyler (Brittany) Blevins, Cody (Rachel) Calkins, and Lexi Sharp; cherished great-grandfather to 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife, Patsy; sister, Martha (Kenny) Knox; brother, John Sharp.

Ronald will be remembered for his quiet strength, his devotion to his family, and the joy he brought to those who knew him.  His legacy lives on in the memories and hearts of all who loved him.

Visitation will be from 9:00  to 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 28, 2025, at the McDonald Funeral Home in in Rock Falls, IL.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Les Funderburg officiating.

Burial with military honors will follow at Tampico Memorial Cemetery, Tampico, IL.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
