Richard Johnson, 81, of Morrison, IL, died Saturday, September 6, 2025, at his home.
Richard was born November 19, 1943, in St. Charles, IL, to Verne and Pauline (McKinness) Johnson. He was educated in St. Charles grade schools and was a graduate of Clinton, IA, High School. On October 2, 1963, he married Virginia Kay James at Albany United Methodist Church in Albany, IL. Richard was employed at Drives, Inc. in Fulton, IL, where he dedicated 42 years of service before his retirement. Outside of work, Richard had a variety of interests that brought him joy. He was an avid record collector and had a lifelong appreciation for music. He also enjoyed collecting Hot Wheels and took pride in adding to his collection. Richard loved being outdoors–he spent many hours trail riding and was always supportive of his wife as she showed horses, often helping behind the scenes to make things run smoothly.
Survivors include his wife, Virigina; sons, Jason (Marda Cook) Johnson and Shawn (Nichole Reed) Johnson, both of Morrison; two grandchildren, Sidney Cook and Gabbi Stichter.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Per Richard’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
