Morrison Historical Society has been proudly preserving and sharing our community’s history for over 50 years.  Operated entirely by volunteers, the Society oversees “Morrison’s Heritage Museum,” a structure listed on the National Register of Historic Places.  It is located in the former, historic Odell Public Library building at 202 E. Lincoln Highway, Morrison, IL.

Inside the museum, visitors will find a variety of exhibits highlighting Morrison’s past, including locally-made products such as Rich Toys, Summit Stoves, Illinois Refrigerators, and Volckmann Furniture.  The museum also features rotating special exhibits and collections that celebrate local people, businesses, and traditions.

In addition to the museum, the Society offers monthly programs from April through November.  These Sunday afternoon gatherings bring history to life with presentations.  Special exhibits, like the Smithsonian Institution’s “Key Ingredients:  America by Food,” have brought National recognition to Morrison.  Community favorites like Cemetery Walks and Antique Appraisal Days keep local history engaging and interactive.

The Society also manages the iconic Annan Mill on U.S. Highway 30.  Built in 1858, the mill is being transformed into a museum dedicated to grain, milling, and antique farming practices.

Morrison’s Heritage Museum is open Saturday through Sunday, 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., from late April through Thanksgiving.  Admission is free, and donations are gratefully accepted.  Behind the building is an accessible ramp entrance.
