Class1969Morrison Community High School Class of 1969 will celebrate its 50th Reunion, on Friday, October 4, 2019, with a series of celebratory activities.

We begin with an entry in the 3:00 p.m. Homecoming Parade on Main Street, Morrison, IL.  Some 40 of us will ride a float with the theme “The Summer of 69,” which is a fairly well-known Bryan Adams song.  Classmates will be adorned with signature sunglasses and beads.  Racks will feature happenings during the summer after our High School graduation:

  • a “moon rock”
  • tie-dyed shirts
  • real Woodstock posters (unless it rains)
  • something from the New York 1969 Miracle Mets.

At the football game approximately 55 class members will sit as a block.  At 6:40 p.m., they will cheer for the foreign exchange student from our Senior year, Elvis Asea, who is joining us from Uganda by way of London, England.  Mayor Everett Pannier will present Asea with a Key to the City in recognition of

  • his first journey to the Midwest in nearly 51 years
  • having been on the vanguard of soccer-style kickers while a member of the Varsity Football squad.

Note from Tim Slavin to the public, “Please keep this recognition secret until the ceremony.  Elvis knows nothing about this part!”

We will root the Mustang football team to victory.  During a pause in the action, the announcer will recognize the MSH Class of 1969, for donating five LED microscopes to the Science Department.  Money was collected from our classmates and their families.

Dinner will be held in the “ballroom” of Rastrelli’s Restaurant, 238 Main Avenue, in Clinton, IA.  After the meal, we will be rockin’ and rollin’ to tunes of the regionally acclaimed, throwback band, Coupe de Ville.
