Saturday, October 18, 2025, saw Americans make history again, protesting the authoritarian policies of Donald Trump and corruption in his Administration. Reports estimate that there were “NO KINGS!” “NO TYRANTS!” demonstrations against President Donald J. Trump in approximately 2700 cities, towns, and villages throughout the United States. One downtown Chicago, IL, street illustrates wall-to-wall demonstrators.
These peaceful gatherings were labeled by Republican politicians as “Hate America” rallies. That point of view I find quite ironic, because their leader, Donald J. Trump, has done more harm to our Country than any group of terrorists could possibly do.
Trump appointed an incompetent Fox News host, Pete Hegseth, to lead our Department of Defense. Trump had insulted veterans in his first term, but he managed to insult our entire military, by appointing an incompetent, which the GOP Senate confirmed. His contribution to our defense is largely in telling women that they don’t belong in our military. He demands everyone shave off their beard. There must not be any fat Generals and Admirals running around the Pentagon. Thank you, Donald and the GOP. I feel much safer now.
Then our brilliant Commander-in-Chief continues his policy of “pissing off” our NATO allies. First, by telling them in the sweetest diplomatic terms, that they are a bunch of worthless beggars, and they aren’t to expect much help from Uncle Sam. Then, at his speech to the United Nations, he told them they were a bunch of “shithole Nations” that were “going to hell.” I am sure they now understand, that if we need their help, we are sure to get it.
Enough for our Military. They will fight, but I’m not betting on which enemy they’ll take on. Now let’s consider what a great job our leader did, of improving the Justice Department–with GOP help, of course.
He put disgraced former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi in charge of the Justice Department. He simply overlooked the fact that she had been removed from Office for lying about the COVID death count, and insisting it was much lower than it actually was. To make sure the Justice Department was a mess, Trump appointed Kash Patel–who had raised funds to help those “peaceful visitors” of January 6 fame. Patel was a Trump 2020 election denier and an enemy of the “deep State.” However, messing up Government agencies one at a time was too slow.
In a stroke of Trump “genius,” without Congressional approval, the President created a Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE.) He put Elon Musk in charge, and he then had his goons fire thousands of Government workers–without any knowledge of what tasks they did! Later, they realized these people had very important functions and tried to hire them back.
Perhaps Trump’s greatest feat was demanding and getting his GOP to pass his “Big, beautiful bill.” It is big: BIG tax cut for the super wealthy. Big cut to Medicare funding. Very BIG increase to our Nation’s debt. BIG Government shut down. Nothing is “beautiful” about any of that.
No wonder seven million people protested at 2700 locations in our United States. The list of damage goes much further. I repeat: no group of terrorists could have done as much damage to our Country as Donald J. Trump has!
