Loft 112, the art gallery at 112 E. Main Street, Morrison, IL, announces both a change of name and a change in business procedure. In late 2017, Morrison Area Development Corporation (MADC) opened Loft 112. The intent was to create a retail venue for local artists and an education center. The MADC goal was to assist with the management the first year, while working to establish Loft 112 as a not-for-profit corporation.
After gaining its new not-for-profit status, the Board of Loft 112 approved a slight change of name–from Loft 112, to “The Loft on Main.” A Board of Directors now helps with the oversight.
The Loft on Main is also proud to announce award-winning art now resides on our walls.
- Scott Ide was a first place award winner at the Last Picture Show, in Dixon, IL, with his photo, Riding the Current. It depicts riding the trolley car in historic downtown Kansas City, MO.
A mother and son were both acclaimed at the Woodlawn Arts Academy 10th annual Juried Art Show recently.
- Andre Joseph Sky was awarded the People’s Choice for Best of Show, with his black and white poster entitled Forlorn, shown below.
- His mother, Desidre Johnson, was given Honorable Mention for her colored pencil sketch of a wolf entitled Night Calling.
The Loft on Main invites all who embrace the arts to its gala fundraiser, “Building the Big Picture,” on Saturday evening, October 20, 2018. This exceptional evening will be held at Morrison Institute of Technology, 701 S.
