Those interested in early Illinois history are encouraged to attend a free, public event, at Morrison’s Heritage Museum, 202 E. Lincolnway, in Morrison, IL. Dr. Tom Wadsworth will present research into “The Role of the Stagecoach in the Formation of Northwest Illinois, from 1828 to1855.”

For this event only, doors open at the regular time of 1:00 p.m., on Sunday, May 18, 2025, However, Historian Wadsworth’s PowerPoint program will start promptly at 2:00. Morrison’s Heritage Museum is accessible to all, by the front door’s newly rebuilt stairs and from a ramp in the back parking area. Refreshments will be served.

“Few realize that the stagecoach held a prominent place in this area,” said Wadsworth. “My research, which focused on sources from the 1800s, dramatically changed the way I look at the settling of northwestern Illinois.”
