Editor’s note: Photographs of the first 13 sculptures by Charles Yost can be found at the Morrison Tech Facebook page. Several smaller pieces are for sale at The Loft on Main, 112 E. Main Street, Morrison, IL.

Visitors on the Morrison Tech Campus, 701 Portland Avenue, off IL Route 78, in Morrison, may notice several metal sculptures placed around the property. The college has become an immersive gallery for 15 sculptures created by Chicago-based sculptor Charles Yost.

The installation of metal pieces began the first part of July 2022.

“We are fortunate to have Mr. Yost loan us his displays and hope people stop by campus to appreciate the art,” added Scott.

“The campus is open seven days a week, and a self-guided tour is available for visitors.”

Upon entering campus you are greeted by three sculptures; “Apparitions Won,” “Apparitions Decision,” and “Gotcha.”

At the far end of the parking lot you may view “Celestial, Constellation Corner with Intergalactic Pipes.” This sculpture hosts several solar panels that create an added effect after nightfall.

Through the middle corridor of campus you will find “Apparition Intrusion,” “Bi-polar Apparition Attack,” and “Trapped Apparitions, Cut Us Loose.”

Behind the main campus, near the Innovation Center are “Nuisance,” “Windy City Windsock,” and “Stealth Drone.”

To finish the tour, in the center of the campus, are three hanging pieces attached to the Rambo Building: “Changeable Wall Sculpture Kit,” “Machine Part with Pipes,” and “Breakfast with Pipes.”

This sculpture is inside the Innovation Center. It rocks.
