Heather Toppert, left, President of WHOA, was the guest speaker at the Morrison Kiwanis meeting held Tuesday, August 23, 2016, at the Odell Public Library, 307 S. Madison Street, Morrison, IL. Toppert spoke of the great strides its participants make in their physical, emotional, and cognitive skills. The White Oak Therapeutic Equestrian Center was established in 1995, for the purpose of providing recreational, educational, therapeutic and social opportunities for persons with disabilities.
Basic instructions are given to persons ages four through adult in grooming, tacking, horsemanship, and riding. Therapeutic riding is made possible through the assistance of trained volunteers, fundraising, special events, and donations. All classes are taught by certified instructors.
Currently WHOA is located on the Whiteside County Fairgrounds.
The Kiwanis Pledge states the following: “As our Country’s flag signifies purity, valor, and justice, may we as true Kiwanians exemplify these virtues as we serve the children of the world.” To the Morrison Kiwanis, the community means the world.
A gift of $150 was presented to WHOA in appreciation and recognition of the great impact WHOA has on the community of Morrison.
