Marcia R. DeBoer (1959 – 2026)

Marcia R. DeBoer, 67, of Morrison, IL, died Friday, June 26, 2026, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, IA.

Marcia was born on April 14, 1959, in Long Beach, CA, to Andrew and Tena (Karsten) DeBoer.  She was educated in the Erie, IL, grade schools and graduated from Erie High School.  She continued her education at Black Hawk East College in Kewanee, IL.  On March 14, 2024, after sharing more than 30 years together, she married Todd Thumma in Morrison.  Marcia devoted more than 30 years to public safety communications, including the past 24 years as a Public Safety Dispatcher with Clinton County Communications.  Throughout her career, she was known for her professionalism, calm presence, compassion, and unwavering commitment to serving others during their times of greatest need.  She was a member of the Iowa Association of Public Safety Communications Officials and the National Emergency Number Association (NENA).  Marcia was also passionate about community outreach, spending many years teaching children about the importance of 911, and helping them understand the role of emergency dispatchers.  Marcia was attending River Church in Clinton, IA.  In her free time, she enjoyed anything arts and crafts, especially sewing and needlepoint.

Survivors include her husband, Todd Thumma; sisters, Debbie (Bryan) Majeske of Hollandale, MN, and Pam DeBoer of Ottumwa, IA; brother, Randy (Debbie) DeBoer of Erie, IL; nephews, Greg DeBoer, Eric (Justine) DeBoer, and Pieter Majeske; great-niece, Emma DeBoer; great-nephew, Andrew DeBoer; mother- and father-in-law, Sue and Gary Thumma of Stanwood, IA; bonus mother, Joyce McNally of Reno, NV.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her bonus father, John McNally.

Cremation rites have been accorded.  There will be no visitation.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m., on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, with Pastor Bruce Mace, of River Church in Clinton, IA, officiating.

Following the Memorial Service, family and friends are invited to gather at Brick Block Pub in Morrison, IL.
