June M. Matyas, 93, of Windsor Manor Assisted Living Community in Morrison, IL; formerly of Fulton, IL, died Tuesday, November 3, 2020, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling, IL.

June was born June 19, 1927, in Bold Springs, TN, to Noah E. and Eunice E. (Lester) Tidwell.  She was educated in the Bold Springs schools.  On July 21, 1940, she married Henry Stallings in Granite City, IL.  He died in 1959.  On January 23, 1965, she married Lester L. Matyas in Granite City   He died May 26, 2014.  June was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, sewing, music, dancing, and reading.  She delighted in nature, beautiful scenery, and bird-watching.  She loved spending time with her grandchildren.  June was a member of the former Evangelical Free Church in Clinton, IA, where she served as a Sunday school teacher.  Her faith in God was very strong, and she spent a lot of time reading her Bible (before losing her sight) and praying for everyone.   une was small in stature yet mighty and courageous in adversity.  Her strength and determination got her through difficult times, and no matter the circumstances, she had a smile that would light up a room.

Survivors include daughter, Misty (Mark) Fanderclai of Florida; son, Rick (Cheryl) Stallings of Silvis, IL; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Ruth Staggs of Centerville, TN.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Henry Stallings and Lester Matyas; daughter, Theresa Holmes; grandson, Michael Holmes; sisters, Joyce Aresmann and Brenda Andersen; brothers, Thomas, Noah Ezra, and Carl Tidwell.

A private funeral Service will be held.

The Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Interment will be at Fulton Township Cemetery, Fulton, IL.

A memorial has been established.
