Are you curious about those two, tiny cabins along W. Lincolnway?  Would you be surprised to learn at one time they served as homes for two families?  Morrison Historical Society will host a free program on Sunday, June 8, 2025, with presenter Jon Gentz.

Gentz loves local history.  He owns the surviving cabins and dwells in a larger, adjacent building of the original owners.  They were built 94 years ago.

His dwelling is located at a level below grade of the current National highway.  Opening on May 16, 1931, the business was Kier’s Log Tavern.  The Kiers placed five tiny log cabins along Rock Creek for tourists.  Each cabin had three windows.  Gentz stated he kept the original windows; they were repaired and reinserted.  Preservation was done in July 2018, by Gary and Chad Milnes.

Morrison’s Heritage Museum, 202 E. Lincolnway, Morrison, IL, will open at 1:00 p.m.  Gentz’s talk begins promptly at 1:30.  Refreshments will be served.  Find parking behind the building.
