John J. Mucci, 76, of Morrison, IL, died Friday, July 25, 2025, at Rock River Hospice & Home in Sterling, IL.

John was born on December 7, 1948, in Ottawa, IL, to Delpho H. and Helen D. (Griglione) Mucci. He was a graduate of Marquette High School in Ottawa, later attending Morrison Institute of Technology in Morrison. He continued his education at the University of Illinois in Champaign, IL, where he earned his degree. John served in the United States Army. On May 23, 1969, he married Kay Ann Kemmer in Ottawa, IL. Together they built a loving life and raised four children. He was employed for many years at Northwestern Steel and Wire in Sterling, IL, before retiring. In his free time, John loved being outdoors–especially hunting and fishing. His favorite place to relax and enjoy life was the family cabin on Rock River. He also enjoyed coaching Little League when his children were young.
Survivors include his wife, Kay Mucci of Morrison; daughter, Maria (Rob) Hudson of Morrison; sons, Jason Mucci of Lake Forest, IL, Dominic Mucci of Morrison, and Joseph (Sherry) Mucci of Cincinnati, OH; eight grandchildren, Alyssa (Clayton) Sibley, Brooke (Trevor Staes) Ryan, Chace Garland, Olivia Mucci, Elena Mucci, Julia Mucci, Allyison Mucci, and Mia Mucci; two great-grandchildren, Clive Sibley and Silas Mucci; sister-in-law, Karen Mucci of FL; brothers-in-law, Steve (Karen) Kemmer of OK and Doug (Nancy) Kemmer of WI; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jack Griglione, James L. Mucci, and Wayne Mucci.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
There will be a Memorial Visitation from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home.
A memorial has been established.
