Bosma of Morrison, IL, was honored for 40 years of dedication to funeral service, during the 139th Annual Iowa Funeral Directors Association (IFDA) Convention.  It was held Tuesday, May 14, through Thursday, May 16, 2019, at Prairie Meadows Hotel & Convention Center in Altoona, IA.

Bosma was one-of-eight Funeral Directors to receive recognition by peers and colleagues for 40 years of service to Iowa communities.  IFDA represents over 700 Iowa licensed Funeral Directors and 425 Funeral Homes. 

IFDA Conventions provide a forum to receive and exchange information, from highly-regarded local and National funeral service speakers.  Attendees bring home ideas to better serve the families in their communities.

More about James D. Bosma

Bosma is Owner/President of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Homes of Morrison, and Fulton, IL, and the Bosma-Gibson Funeral Home of Prophetstown, IL.  He has 40 years of experience as a licensed Funeral Director in the states of Illinois and Iowa.  Bosma holds a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Mortuary Science.  He has applied hours of study towards an Associates degree in Grief Counseling.

He is a Certified Funeral Service Practitioner, as designated by the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice.  Bosma holds memberships in the National, Iowa, Mississippi Valley, and Illinois Funeral Directors Associations.

He has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Hospice of the Rock River Valley, Unity Christian School, Fulton, Morrison Chamber of Commerce, and the Morrison United Way.  He is also a 35 year member and Past President of Morrison Lions Club.  He is a member of Morrison Christian Reformed Church, where he has served as Elder, Deacon, Sunday School teacher, and Superintendent.

Jim Bosma and his wife, Lu Anne, reside in Morrison.  They have two children, Lisa (Sean) Hanley of Davenport, IA, and Brian (Kelly) Bosma of Brownsburg, IN.  The Bosmas have nine grandchildren.  His hobbies include golfing, biking, sailing, and building and flying model aircraft.
