Morrison Garden Club’s Featured Garden is the “Garden Off Garden Plain.” Like the colors of a rainbow, the gardens’ inhabitants burst forth in color–for this is no plain garden.
Morrison Garden Club is featuring the beautiful gardens of Bonnie and Don Reed of Morrison, IL. They are located at 13012 Locust Court, just off Garden Plain Road. From sunrise to sunset, your senses will be borderline overwhelmed when viewing this amazing garden.
The beauty I saw when touring the Reed’s yard still has my jaw dropped. They have inspired me to think about expanding my own gardens at home.
Don has a large variety of perennials in his yard, including 25 varieties of Hostas, 40-plus varieties of daylilies, cone flowers, and phlox–just to name a few. He has added Cannas, and some annuals are also scattered through the gardens. An old tree stump is filled with Calla Lilies.
The bank on the south side of their back yard is designated for shade plants. It contains mostly Hostas and some ferns, along with a few volunteer Phlox that have found their way up there.
More photos of the gardens are posted on our Facebook Page @Morrison Garden Club. They are definitely worth a peek. This mature, lovingly nurtured garden certainly beckons a visit; either online or in person, or both!
Morrison Garden Club members would like to extend an invitation to anyone who is interested in gardening, to join our group and share in social and learning times. If you are looking simply to volunteer in our City beautification projects, please contact us for future opportunities.
