DrBirdCGH Medical Center announces the appointment of Dr. William Bird to the position of Vice President/Chief of Quality and Process Improvement. Dr. Bird, who has been employed by CGH (and the former Sterling Rock Falls Clinic) since 1997, also brings nearly ten years of experience as Medical Director of the Clinic.

In this position, Dr. Bird will help identify areas at CGH that need improvement, decide which processes can be changed to improve outcomes, build a plan to make changes, and then track the results to measure and learn from the outcomes. He will also oversee the CGH Wound Healing Center and co-manage the Population Health Department and the Risk and Quality Team.

“CGH is already committed to providing the highest level of quality care to our patients,” said Dr. Bird. “I see this new opportunity as a way to help the organization in any way I can, while assuming a more active role in guiding our continuous improvement efforts.”

CGH Medical Center and all of its affiliates are fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Healthcare Accreditation. In addition, the hospital has been awarded the Gold Seal of Approval, meeting some of the most rigorous quality standards in the health care industry. CGH, including its clinics, laboratory and home nursing services, is the only organization in the local area to be awarded this accreditation.

Dr. Bird currently administers CGH’s Population Health Department, oversees the CGH Hospitalists, and serves as a family physician at the CGH Morrison Clinic and Vision Center, where his current hours will remain the same. He is Board Certified with the American Board of Family Medicine and is also a Certified Physician Executive with the American College of Physician Executives.

Dr. Bird lives in Morrison, IL, with his wife, Dawn.  They have three children, Will, 21, Grace, 18, and Andy, 16. His hobbies include reading and golfing.
