Opiod abuse and drug crime, particularly in large cities, have been in the news. How does this affect us in Morrison, IL, and elsewhere in rural America? Will legalized marijuana cause more problems? What should we be aware of in our own communities?
On Thursday night, September 26, 2019, The Whiteside Forum will kick off their 2019-2020 season with a panel discussion on these questions. The event is free and will be held in the Program Room of the Odell Public Library, 307 S. Madison Street, Morrison, IL, starting at 6:30 p.m.
What a panel discussion really needs is an audience with concern, compassion, and good questions, so everyone is invited to participate. Local and surrounding community members are encouraged to attend.
We will host panel members: Brian Melton, Chief of Police, Morrison, IL; Alison White, Safe Passage Coordinator, Sinnissippi Counseling & Mental Health Centers; Dan Hovey, Captain of Emergency Medical Services, Paramedic, CCP, Rescue Task Force, Morrison Community Hospital.
Our experts will share
- problems they see with legal and illegal drug and alcohol abuse
- other addictive behaviors and problems
- resources available to save lives and promote recovery.
