Dennis James Altfillisch, 71, of Morrison, IL, unexpectedly passed away on June 27, 2024.

Dennis was born January 1, 1953, in Hazel Green, WI, to Cleland and Geneva (Wand) Altfillisch.  He was educated in the Elizabeth, IL, schools and was the oldest of four siblings.  He married his High School sweetheart, Jen Bausman, on June 25, 1971, celebrating 53 years of marriage this month.  His daughters, Carrie (Brian) Melton of Morrison, Courtney (Brad) Melton of Forreston, IL, and Juliet Daniel of Oklahoma City, OK, will miss his funny life lessons and his quiet ways, as he showed his love for them.  He was proudest of his grandchildren, Emma Melton, Connor McBride, Annie (Garrett) Stuckey, Lauren Melton, and Isaac Melton.

As a life-long hard worker, Dennis retired with Jen from the United States Army Defense Ammunition Center, McAlester OK.  Over the years, he was also a small business owner, a farm laborer, and a factory worker, always providing for his family.

He loved to travel with Jen, taking her wherever she wanted to go.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, golfing, playing cards, and a good stiff whiskey with a Busch Light.  He had fun spending the winters in Texas, tinkering with new projects, listening to Elvis, and watching Sylvester Stallone and Clint Eastwood movies.

Dennis is dearly missed by his wife, Jen; daughters; sons-in-law; grandchildren; brothers, Duane (Karen) Altfillisch and Donnie (Deb) Altfillisch; sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; nieces and nephews; many other extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Jen’s parents; sister.

Dennis’s life will be celebrated at a later date.
