David Elmer Anderson, 70, of Prophetstown, IL, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on August 16, 1955, in Sterling, IL, David was the son of Robert E. and Shirley J. (Ziegenbein) Anderson. He graduated from Prophetstown High School in 1973 and married his high school sweetheart, Gina G. Combs, on February 14, 1976, at Prophetstown United Methodist Church. Together, they shared a loving marriage and were blessed to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary earlier this year.
David dedicated 41 years of hard work to John Deere Harvester in Moline, IL, before retiring. Never one to sit still, he spent his retirement years caring for the grounds at Riverside Cemetery in Prophetstown. He found joy in the outdoors, especially golfing, hunting, and fishing, but nothing meant more to him than time spent with his family. He rarely missed a grandchild’s sporting event and treasured the simple moments, more often than not sitting in his favorite spot on the porch living the “High Life,” watching them swim and play.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Gina; children, Shelly (Jeff) Naftzger, Haley (Josh) Sibley, Becky (Calvin) Bebon, and Bradley (Rachel) Anderson, all of Prophetstown; 11 cherished grandchildren, Brody, Caleb, and Derek Naftzger, Connor, Reagan, and Kaelyn Sibley, Hadley, Porter, and Sutton Bebon, and Knox and Barrett Anderson. He is survived by his sister, Mary Bennett of Prophetstown; brother, Bill (Pat) Anderson of Morrison, IL; brothers-in-law, Greg (Karen) Combs of Lyndon, IL, and Doug (Karolye) Combs of Prophetstown; sister-in-law, Beth Olinger of Prophetstown.
He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Herbert and Donna Combs; brothers-in-law, Lavern Bennett and Mike “Barney” Olinger; maternal grandparents, Mary and Ferdinand Ziegenbein; paternal grandparents, Hilda and Elmer Anderson.
David will be remembered for his quiet strength, his dedication to his family, and the steady presence he brought to those who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at the Bosma-Gibson Funeral Home in Prophetstown, IL.
His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday April 20, 2026, at Prophetstown United Methodist Church, with Rev. Joey Garcea, officiating.
Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Prophetstown, IL.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established by the family.
