Tom Janie Vogel“The Mayor of Main Street,” barber Tommy Vogel, is shown giving his late wife, Janie, a tender trim in 2005, at Vogel’s Barber Shop, 205 E. Main Street, Morrison, IL.  Click here to read the accompanying article which honored the Vogel family’s two-generation, Golden Business, during the Morrison Sesquicentennial celebration.

Vogel has been hospitalized for over two weeks, after undergoing heart bypass surgery in mid-October 2014.  Cosmetologists from seven Morrison salons have devised a two-day opportunity for the community to offer him support, on Monday, November 10, and Tuesday, November 11.  Taking two-hour turns from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., they will cut hair at Vogel’s Barber Shop.

  • Stop when your cosmetologist is on duty or at your convenience.
  • No appointment is necessary.
  • Men, women, and children will receive haircuts for a donation only.
  • Neither shampooing nor styling will be available.

If you do not need a trim, support the event at the Bake Sale, held at the shop Tuesday, November 11.  The public is invited to contribute–or purchase–baked items that day.  No cream pies, jams, or jellies will be accepted, however.

Drop off food at 8:00 a.m. or schedule a pick up with Shelley Tiesman by calling 815-772-3942.

For information about the Vogel Cut-a-Thon, contact one of Vogel’s pals–Dale Eizenga–at 815-772-4773.
