All delegates were present to convene the Monday, April 14, 2025, meeting of the Morrison, IL, City Council. Acceptance of the Consent Agenda approved the paying of bills totaling $136,135.06 and offering City support of Arbor Day 2025 and urging citizens to “plant trees to gladden the heart and promote the well-being of this and future generations.”
A video promoting an “Outdoor Fitness Court” was viewed, promoting a goal for all citizens to exercise ten minutes each day. A similar fitness court is being discussed for placement on the path to the Morrison Sports Complex. Details will be presented at future Council meetings.
The Council was reminded of the upcoming cleaning of sewer lines, starting Monday, April 21, and ending by Monday, June 30. Citizens are reminded to follow suggestions on closing in-home commodes to prevent back flushing.
Approved Action items included:
- establishing an Economic Development Fund.
- transferring of $40,000 from General Fund to Economic Development Fund.
- Ordinance “.. to provide for the continued operation and maintenance of the Odell Public Library and the Morrison Community Room Facility for the use and benefit of the community.”
- approved the Draft for the City Budget for FY 2026 for Public Posting.
- purchase of Tanks, Pumps and Sensors for Well 4 & 5 at a cost of $23,621.
- Paying Daxon Construction for work completed on the Public Works building totaling $26,842.05.
- acceptance the resignation of Chief of Police Soenksen effective Sunday, May 4, 2025.
- appointment of Michael Moon as the interim Chief of Police effective Monday, May 5, 2025.
- approved a wage increase of 4% for Non-Union Staff effective Thursday, May 1, 2025.
The Morrison City Council meets in the Odell Community Room on the second Monday of each month, beginning at 6:30 p.m. The public is welcome to attend.
