At 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 25, 2025, Morrison High School held the 153rd Commencement Exercises in the gymnasium.  Fifty-nine students were eligible to graduate, as of May 23.

Band and choir members added music to the long-awaited celebration.  Two graduating students were selected to read essays:  MaKenzie Neas (“Where’d All the Time Go?”) and Sarah Stralow (“Learning from Every Voice.”)

Principal David Mills announced four Illinois State Scholars.  They were acknowledged because they possess superior academic potential, based on their Grade Point Average; class rank; high Achievement Test (ACT or SAT) scores.  Paige Leighton, Isaiah McDearmon, Hunter McNeece, and Sarah Stralow achieved the prestigious accolade.

Morrison Education Foundation gave monetary awards to the Valedictorian–McDearmon–and Salutatorian–Leighton.  She read her essay, “Making Everything Worth It.”  McDearmon’s essay was titled, “Writing Your Own Stories.”

Top ranking MHS Juniors Alayna Zinke and Quinn Blevins had the honor of serving as Marshalls.   They led the procession into, and the recession from, the gymnasium.

Stoles (long narrow scarfs) are indicative of special achievements or interests.  Airiana Frederick wears the IL Army National Guard stole, as did Lucien Mills, and Sammy Wiersema.  Below, Keelan Woodlin’s stole reflects his status with the same military organization.  Allison Ferguson’s yellow stole honors her Future Farmers of America involvement, like a young man in the lower photo.

Colton Bielema has enlisted with the U. S. Air Force.  He is shown on Memorial Day with Charles Yost.

Camryn Veltrop and Santana Sawyer beamed with pride as they recessed to the cafeteria.

Class of 2025 alumnae, left-to-right, Emily Roggy and Lauren Rubright expressed their happiness.

A significant milestone has been achieved by these Class of 2025 members.  Best wishes as they step into their future!
