The Morrison City Council convened on Monday, October 28, 2024, with a departmental report from Recreational Services Director, Nathan Jacobs.  He stated that fall Flag Football had 77 youth sign-ups to participate, and that Soccer sign-ups totaled 83.

The painting of the Public Works Facility located, at 15947 E. Lincoln Road, was recently put out for bids, for work to be performed in the spring of 2025.  Renovation of the facilities included demolitions, carpentry, doors, hardware, flooring, and equipment.  The Council spent considerable time dissecting the bid and ways to best communicate the City’s expectations.  Due to the location of the facility on a State route, the appearance should reflect the quality of life that passersby could expect, throughout the community.  The result of the discussions ended with approval of the original bid submitted by City Manager Brian Melton.

The capital expenditures for the remainder of 2025 were approved, including alleys; S. Genesee Street, (from the rail road tracks south to Winfield Street); Crocker Bridge.

Action items included a request from Chief of Police Kevin Soenksen to purchase Taser upgrades to replace aging equipment currently in use.  The proposed tasers integrate seamlessly with the existing body cameras.  The emphasis is on ease of use, real-time alerting, and integration into the existing overall ecosystem.  The purchase was passed unanimously by the Council.

The session closed with discussion items needed to inform Council members relating to future Council agenda items:  Property Tax Levy; Community Center Rental; Police vehicle camera replacements; long- and short-term strategic goals.
