The Morrison Cash Mob gathered on Thursday, July 24, 2014, for a 4:00 p.m. hit on True Value Hardware, 104 S. Genesee Street, Morrison, IL. Hidden behind dark sunglasses were a large gang of shoppers, each of whom pledged to spend at least $10 at the local business. Watch for the next mob hit in September and join the gang!
Sponsored by Morrison Chamber of Commerce and supported by citizens, this mob action is designed to encourage shopping locally, keeping our money in the local merchants’ pockets, and stimulating Morrison’s economic “pot.”
Mob members spread around the establishment and quickly made their selections. People bought a wide variety of items: hedge trimmers, songbird seed, a flower pot, tennis balls, and an insulated lunch tote, for example.
True Value Employees Lisa Lewis and Angie Gorzny rang up purchases by four mobsters, while owner Don Jevne stood by. From left-to-right are Chamber Administrator Corinne Bender, and Chamber members Angie VanderVinne, Brandi Renkes, and Jean Eggemeyer with her daughters.
