MarianAndersonStringsClinton Community College and RSVP will partner to offer ENCORE PRESENTS…a Senior Spring Tune-Up on Wednesday, March 27, 2019, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.  The event will be held at the Clinton Community College Technology Center (former Graphic Arts Technology Center), 1951 Manufacturing Drive, Clinton, IA.  This event is Free.  Preregister for course #4169 by calling 1-888-336-3907 or 563-244-7100.

ENCORE equals Enrichment Courses for Retirement.  This is an opportunity for retirees to come together for a day of entertainment and enrichment.  Several top-notch, informative speakers are scheduled throughout the day.  Participants can spend the day with us, get tuned up for a great spring season, sit back, and enjoy themselves.  Lunch will be provided.

Special musical guests will be the Marian Anderson String Quartet.  As winners of the 2008 Chamber Music America Guarneri String Quartet Award, the Marian Anderson String Quartet is at home in both concert hall and classroom.  With venues from the Library of Congress to soup kitchens and juvenile correction facilities, the Quartet continues to uphold its mission, to create new audiences for American Chamber music.

Other presentation topics will include CCC Bickelhaupt Arboretum Director Margo Hansen sharing “The Good, The Bad, and The Bug-ly;” John and Martha Bonte taking us on a tour of South American; an update from the Clinton County RSVP.

April is Community College Month.  Join us for these events as we celebrate Clinton Community College.

Thursday, March 28 Artist Ben Holmberg, CCC Library Art Gallery, 4:30 to 6:00 p.m.  The exhibit will end Thursday, March 28.  The next exhibit will include artwork from CCC students, with a reception held on Thursday, May 2, from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m.  The CCC Library is located at 1000 Lincoln Boulevard, Clinton, IA.

Friday, March 29 CCC Alumni Association Trivia Night, CCC Auditorium, 1000 Lincoln Boulevard, Clinton, at 6:30 p.m.  First place team wins $100, second place team wins $50.  This fundraiser supports the four CCC Alumni Association Scholarships for CCC students.

Saturday, March 30 Gaming Club EXTRAVAGANZA IV from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.  Come by the CCC Auditorium at 1000 Lincoln Boulevard, Clinton, to learn all about the hobby.  Food and fun for the whole family.  Gamers 14-and-under are required to bring a parent or adult.  Entry to the event is free with a suggested donation of cash or non-perishable items for the CCC Cupboard, a place where CCC students can get food, toiletries and diapers.  You receive an extra entry to the raffles if you donate, so please bring some items to help out the Cupboard.

Wednesday, April 3 A Taste of CCC Cultures.  Explore the variety of ethnic tastings of Clinton Community College staff, faculty and students, featuring free samples from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., CCC Auditorium, 1000 Lincoln Boulevard, Clinton.

Monday, April 15 Black History Presentation by Dr. Jodi Merriday at 12:30 p.m., CCC Auditorium, 1000 Lincoln Boulevard, Clinton.  Explore historical facts about the African-American experience to stimulate cross-racial and cross-cultural dialogue about identity, privilege, bias, and prejudice.  Participants will be led through an exploration of 1) race and culture; 2) racial sensitivity and awareness; 3) inclusivness and diversity; 4) exhibiting tolerance.  Prominent African-Americans will be introduced to frame excellence and the contributions made to America by African-Americans.
