At their regular meeting, Tuesday, February 18, 2026, the Carroll County Democrats, by a unanimous vote, decided to sponsor a “No Kings” demonstration, to be held on Saturday, March 28, from noon to 3:00 p.m. The group will assemble next to the Dental Office on Main Street in Savanna, IL, and proceed to Manny’s. The event is open to the public.
Vietnam Veteran and former P.O.W. Paul Mayer gave the group instructions on how to make a professional looking sign. He is working on a book about his experience in Vietnam that is expected to be available this summer.
During the Chair’s Report, Dr. Arthur Donart provided details of legislation to regulate health insurance companies’ practice of requiring their approval for treatment your doctor has prescribed and their practice of denying treatment. The bill would prohibit any denial of care without first consulting your doctor. The bill has strict timelines to keep an insurance company from dragging out the process. Dr. Donart suggested the group hold a Town Hall meeting on health care this April.
The group discussed finding a more central meeting place, in order to encourage people from Eastern areas of the County to participate.
