BlackBoxLogoBlack Box Theatre, 1623 5th Avenue, in Moline, IL, opens its inaugural season with the comedy “Murderers” by Jeffrey Hatcher.  The new 60-seat theatre is co-owned by Lora Adams and David Miller.

The play is told through three stories:  “The Man who Married his Mother-in-Law” with Brent Tubbs; “Margaret Faydle Comes to Town” with Nancy Teerlink; “Matching Wits with Minka Lupino” with Lora Adams.  Adams also directs the production.  The monologues feature people who take a perverse pride in their crimes.  Each person takes the stage and immediately proclaims, “I am a murderer.”  But there’s nothing in these confessions that will chill the blood of a theatergoer.  Most of the audience will be too busy laughing to be frightened.

Talkin’ Broadway said, “‘Murderers’ is a delight–a very funny comedy with some biting satire and terrific storytelling.”

Performances are Saturday, January 28, February 3, 4, 10, and 11, 2017, at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays, January 29, and February 5, at 2:30 p.m.  Tickets are $18.

Next up will be the musical “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” based on the comic by Charles M. Schulz, with book, music, and lyrics by Clark Gesner.  It runs Friday, March 10, to Saturday, March 25.
