On Friday, January 29, to Sunday, January 31, 2016, the DeKalb County Swim Team hosted their Winter Classic Meet at the Kishwaukee YMCA. Twelve Seahorse made the trip and came home with 24 Top-Eight finishes, 72 Lifetime Best swims, and several new Regional qualifying swims. Emery Brewer and Laney Edgeton both swam Regional qualifying swims for the first time. Brewer qualified in the 50 Breaststroke, and Edgeton qualified in the 400 IM. The following Seahorses also swam Regional times: BayLeigh Brewer in the 400 IM; Kate Henson in the 200 IM and 200 Free; Schyon Drolema in the 200 IM and 50 Free; Skylar Drolema in the 100 Free; Landri Harmon in the 50 Breaststroke.
The 11-12 Girls 400 Medley relay team of Edgeton, Henson, Drolema, and Brewer–pictured left-to-right– broke the Seahorse relay record, which was set in 1998, by Emalee Seaman, Rachel Fedyk, Carlie Schoaf, and Phelan Oudekerk. The girls swam a 5:11.39 which broke the old record by 2.5 seconds. Congratulations to all of the Seahorses on a fantastic meet! The Seahorse results follow.
