Tyler Rex Engelkins, 39, of Clinton, IA, passed away at his home on Monday, June 8, 2026.

Tyler was born on May 13, 1987, in Morrison, IL. He grew up in Morrison and attended Morrison schools, where he quickly earned a reputation as the class clown. Tyler had a gift for making people laugh. He carried that gift with him throughout his life, bringing smiles to the faces of family, friends, and even strangers.
As a child, Tyler loved skateboarding with his brother, riding bikes around town, and spending time with friends at the local skating rink. His love for the outdoors began early in life, while spending weekends and summers with his family at their cabin along the Mississippi River. Those experiences fostered a lifelong appreciation for nature that never faded.
Tyler found joy in fishing, hiking, camping, kayaking, and boating with family and friends. Some of his favorite places were Rockwood State Park in Morrison and Rock Creek State Park in Camanche, IA, where he created countless memories doing what he loved most. Tyler also had a deep appreciation for good food. Those who knew him best knew that ice cream was always at the top of his list.
Tyler was a proud and loving uncle who cherished spending time with his nieces and nephews. Whether he was taking them fishing, shooting pool, going to the movies, or finding the next adventure, he loved creating memories with them. And, much to their delight, Tyler was often the uncle who showed up with all the junk food, despite what his sister said. His playful spirit, big heart, and ability to make every moment fun are memories his family will treasure forever.
Tyler was a man of faith who believed in God and found strength in that faith throughout his life. Above all else, Tyler lived for his son, Riley. Riley was his world, his greatest source of pride, and the reason he continued to persevere through life’s challenges. The love Tyler had for his son was immeasurable, and that love will remain a lasting part of his legacy.
More than anything, Tyler will be remembered for his generous heart. He was the kind of person who would give his last dollar to someone in need or the shirt off his back to help another person. No matter the struggles he faced in his own life, Tyler always found a way to make others feel loved, supported, and valued. His kindness, compassion, and willingness to help anyone in need were among his greatest qualities.
Tyler’s laughter, kindness, adventurous spirit, and unwavering love for his family and friends will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Though his time here was far too short, the memories he created and the lives he touched will never be forgotten.
