Brian J. Brackemyer (1964 – 2026)

Brian J. Brackemyer, 61, of Lanark, IL, died Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, IL.

Brian was born September 5, 1964, in Morrison, IL, to Garrett R. and Carole G. (Stoudt) Brackemyer.  He was educated in the Morrison Grade Schools and was a 1982 graduate of Morrison High School.  Following high school, he proudly served his Country in the United States Army in Grenada and Operation Desert Storm.  On August 12, 1983, he married Cathyrn L. Lamb in Morrison.  Brian dedicated much of his life to military and public service, retiring as the State Command Sergeant Major for the Illinois National Guard in 2009.  He later continued his commitment to serving others through the Illinois Emergency Management Agency, retiring as Manager of Field Operations in 2024.  Beyond his distinguished career, Brian enjoyed spending time outdoors and could often be found fishing, golfing, or at the shooting range.  Most of all, he cherished time spent with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Cathy; sons, Zachary (Jamie) Brackemyer of Hampshire, IL, and Chase (Paolo Tando) Brackemyer of Aurora, IL; two grandchildren, Stella and Lucy Brackemyer; brother, Mike (Michelle) Brackemyer of Topeka, KS.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home in Morrison, IL.

Interment will be held at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA.

Cremation rites have been accorded.

A memorial has been established to Wounded Warrior Project.
