Gary F. Landheer, 73, of Morrison, IL, died Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling, IL.

Gary was born on October 4, 1952, in Morrison, to Walter E. and Evelyn C. (Dyke) Landheer. He was educated in the rural Whiteside County grade schools and was a 1971 graduate of Morrison High School. Gary served in the United States Army starting October 2, 1971, and later in the National Guard, receiving an honorable discharge on April 25, 1975. He spent most of his working life at Northwestern Steel and Wire in Sterling, along with several other positions before retirement. On June 4, 2016, Gary married his high school sweetheart, Diana F. Null, in Fulton, IL. Diana described him as her lover and best friend, noting that he was her first love in high school and her last love in life. Gary enjoyed fishing, building projects, and spending time around a fire with family and friends, especially at Ron and Ellen Callihan’s home. He and Diana loved cuddling with their pet beagle, Molly, and watching movies and westerns on TV.
Survivors include his wife, Diana; daughters, Andrea Landheer and Jamie Townshed both of Litchfield, AZ; Diana’s children, Tad (Chastidy) Rice of Fayetteville, NC, Jessica Waddell and Michelle (Russell) Onken both of Morrison; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Karen Landheer of Morrison; sisters-in-law, Ellen (Ron) Callihan, Mary Tunnacliffe, and Helen Null, all of Morrison.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., on Monday, October 27, 2025, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home.
Cremation rites will be accorded following the visitation.
Interment will take place at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison, IL, at a later date.
A memorial has been established.
