On Wednesday, October 1, 2025, Congressman Eric Sorensen released the following statement, after Republicans let the Government shut down.  The GOP refused to work with Democrats on a bipartisan Government funding bill, that would lower health care costs for millions of Americans.

“My neighbors hate the partisan political games D. C. politicians play,at the expense of working families,” said Congressman Sorensen.  “Our public servants and American servicemembers are working without pay, because Republicans would rather stay on vacation and shut down the Government–instead of working with Democrats to find solutions.  Hurting the American people is their play here, and I won’t ever accept that!”

Republicans’ Government funding bill does not include an extension of enhanced subsidies, for millions of Americans currently covered by the Affordable Care Act.  Without an extension, health care premiums are expected to dramatically soar, by more than 75% from the previous year….Nearly 4 million Americans are at-risk of losing their health insurance.

The bill now goes to the U. S. Senate for another vote.
