The Morrison, IL, Rotary Harvest Hammer 5K & Duathlon, on Saturday, September 20, 2025, was open to race fans spanning eight decades of age groups.  Next year there will be a category for those ages 80 and above!

This year, changes were made to group start times and order.  To capture cooler temperatures, 5k and Duathlon races began at 8:00 a.m.  Walkers/Runners–then Cyclists–began in front of the High School.  Duathlon bikers repeated the route twice.

The 5K Walk/Run and Duathlon included Walkers/Runners covering just over three miles on mostly-flat terrain.  One long, steep hill was conquered as participants reached the halfway, turn-around point.  The Duathlon bike course was a two-lap tour with rolling hills.

In each age category, Don Jevne, right, placed ribbons around the necks of the first three winners.  Jackie Jevne pulled awards while Kevin Schisler called winners’ names and standings.

The Harvest Hammer is a race for all ages.

Kids races began shortly after 10:00; the Color Run retained its 11:00 start time.  However, the route was changed for three children’s runs and the Color Run.  Events commenced and concluded at the intersection of Academic Drive and 643 Genesee Avenue, Morrison High School.  Youths performed some light stretching before they took off north on Genesea to Winfield Street and back.

Starting about 10:15 a.m., races were designed for kids in grades 2-and-Under through 8th grade.  Wee Runners are shown stretching and then running.

Challenge Run contestants stretched.  They ran to Winfield and repeated the journey, covering one mile.
