Gene E. Johnson, 72, of Morrison, IL, died Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at the Citadel of Sterling, IL.
Gene was born August 27, 1952, in Morrison, to Elmer W. and Helen D. (Radatz) Johnson. He was first employed at Climco in Morrison, and later he was employed at Self Help, Inc. for many years. Gene was a member of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, LC-MS in Morrison. He enjoyed traveling and visiting various churches. Gene also liked attending concerts, like “The Beach Boys,” “Brooks and Dunn,” “Alan Jackson,” and KKenny Rogers.”
Survivors include his brothers, Marvin Johnson of Austin, TX, and Gary (Mary) Johnson of Port Byron, IL; nieces, Alesha (Dave) DeYoung of Steger, IL, and Tara (Zaac) Lubs of Clinton, IA; nephew, Brian Johnson of Morrison; special friend, Mary Esther Gonzalez.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Robert Johnson.
There will be a private Graveside Service at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison, IL, officiated by Interim Pastor Philip Heuser at St. Peter Lutheran Church.
