The Illinois Department of Transportation introduced the proposed enhancements to Illinois Route 30 through Morrison, on Wednesday, July 16, 2025.  The Open House held in Odell Public Library exposed plans for the reconstruction of Route 30 from .01 mile west of route 78 North to 0.2 miles East of Jackson Street.  Citizens were welcome to view the plans and ask question of the attending Department of Transportation employees, and converse one-on-one with their concerns and questions.  Written statements may be mailed to IDOT, District Two Regional Engineer.

IDOT is currently conducting preliminary engineering and environmental studies for the reconstruction.  The goal is to provide safe and efficient transportation through reconstruction of deficient pavement. Installation will include curbs, gutters, storm sewers, retaining walls, turn lanes, sidewalks, and a multi-use path through the City of Morrison.

IDOT’s timetable designates that a Design Approval will be completed by early 2027, with an anticipated letting of the reconstruction contract in early 2029.

Odell Library was flooded with interested citizens as soon as the doors opened at 1:00 p.m. and flow remained steady until the closing at 6:00 p.m..

IDOT noted that “All comments received from you, the public, and strategic partners will be reviewed and evaluated against the following criteria: feasibility, practicality, adherence to project goals, and compliance with both State and Federal policies and laws.
