The Monday, July 14, 2025, edition of the Morrison City Council convened without Councilman Kevin Bruckner in attendance.
LuEllen Lee, local business owner located on E. Main Street, addressed the Council with concerns that the two-hour parking limit on Main Street was not being enforced. She noted that Main Street businesses are allowing employees to park in the two-hour spaces and depriving potential customers the spaces for shopping downtown Morrison.
Lee also asked stricter enforcement of the Ordinance on allowing bicycle and motorized cycles on utilization of the downtown sidewalks. The cycles cause a safety concern for potential customers and create another distraction for downtown shopping.
The Council approved the closing of Main Street (from 2:30 to 8:00 p.m.) for the upcoming Farmers Market on August 7, 2025. Main Street closure was also approved for the Harvest Hammer on September 20, 2025.
The additional Action items expenditures were approved.
* Wall and Larch Street Watermain Project final ( $348,702.92)
*Public Works Interior Renovation Project final ($411,483.40)
*Bills Payable ($226,144.67.)
The Council voted unanimously to hire a new Police position (Sergeant.) The Sergeant would share responsibility with current employment and divide the days hours of supervision, to better ease the work load of the current force.
In closing, the Council was informed that the year’s audit would be presented at the next Morrison City Council meeting.
