Farmers National Bank is proud to announce it has expanded its partnership with local Law Enforcement at four of its branch communities:  Geneseo, Morrison, Mount Carroll, and Prophetstown, IL, to combat the growing threat of ATM and ITM fraud.  In response to a rise in fraudulent “skimming devices” being placed on banking terminals, Farmers National Bank joined forces with other banks in Geneseo in March 2025.  They purchased and donated a Skim Scan device to the Geneseo Police Department.  Such portable devices enable Officers to easily and quickly detect illegal skimmers during routine patrols, helping protect customers from identity theft and financial fraud.

Following the success of this initial collaboration, Farmers National Bank expanded the effort to include its other communities.  The bank donated Skim Scan devices to the Police Departments in Morrison, Mount Carroll, and Prophetstown, to demonstrate its continued commitment to building safer communities and protecting local residents.

“At Farmers National Bank, we take the security of our customers and communities seriously,” stated Tiffany Tipton, Marketing Manager of Farmers National Bank.  “By partnering with Police Departments, we’re helping stop fraud before it happens, and reinforcing the strength of community cooperation.”

These devices are being used by Officers on patrol to check ATMs throughout their towns, giving Law Enforcement another tool to proactively stop criminal activity.  This initiative reflects Farmers National Bank’s ongoing investment in community well-being, innovation in fraud prevention, and dedication to being A Real Community Bank.
