On Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at approximately 12:00 Noon, Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office Telecommunications received a 911 call, reporting a traffic crash with injuries on U.S. Route 30, in front of Crystal Lake in Rock Falls, IL.
Initial investigation by responding Deputies determined a white, Lexus SUV, operated by a 16-year-old, was traveling eastbound on U. S. Route 30, and attempted to turn into the entrance to Crystal Lake. The Lexus failed to yield to westbound traffic, turning in front of a silver Honda SUV.
As a result, the driver of the Lexus and two 15-year-old occupants were transported to CGH for non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Honda, as well as an 11-year-old and a 5-year-old, were also transported to CGH for non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the Lexus was cited for Failure to Yield – Turning Left, and GDL Passenger Limit Violation.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by Rock Falls Police Department, Rock Falls Fire Department, Sterling Fire Department, CGH EMS, Slim N’ Hank’s, and Dabney Services.
