Gail E. Melton, age 88, formerly of Rock Falls, IL, died peacefully on Friday, May 2, 2025, surrounded by his family, at Resthave Care & Rehabilitation in Morrison, IL.
Gail was born on September 21, 1936, in Springhill, IL, to James B. and Edith P. (Burgess) Melton. On August 26, 1956, he married the love of his life, Nancy Skibbe. They celebrated 67 wonderful years of marriage in 2024. Gail dedicated 47 years of his life to the dairy industry, beginning as a milkman and working his way up to become a Territory Manager for Sanitary Farm Dairy, Land O’Lakes, and eventually Swiss Valley Farms. Known for his strong work ethic and dedication, he took great pride in his career. Outside of work, Gail’s greatest joy was his family. He also loved playing Golf with Nancy and many close friends. A talented golfer, he achieved an impressive five holes-in-one during his lifetime.
Gail is survived by his devoted wife, Nancy; children, Randy (Kim) Melton, Julie Melton, and Susan (Denise) Melton; five grandchildren, Vanessa (Tim) Ries, Jessica (Derek) McCormick, Bryant (Maggie) Rosalez, Britne (David) Anderson, and Bailee (Allie) Rosalez; three great-grandchildren, Randy, Jack, and Runa; brother, Jerry Melton.
Gail was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Gene and John; son, Gregory, in infancy.
A Gathering of family and friends will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 9, 2025, at the McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls, IL.
Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Dr. Scott Porter officiating.
