Karen Arlene Kuehl, 87, of Resthave Care & Rehabilitation in Morrison, IL, died Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at Resthave.
Karen was born September 18, 1937 in Rock Falls, IL, to William and Etta Mae (Crotts) Boucher. She attended Rock Falls and Moline, IL, grade schools and was a graduate of Rock Falls High School. On September 2, 1956, she married Richard “Dick” Arlen Kuehl in Morrison. He passed away on June 26, 2023. Karen started her career working as a Telephone Operator on a switchboard. She worked at General Electric in Morrison, as well as Morrison Community Hospital and CGH, for continuing education. She volunteered for the American Heart Association where she became a Trainer for instructors. Karen was a member of Morrison United Methodist Church. She loved sewing and crafts, and making hand painted sweatshirts. Karen was crazy about babies and loved animals, acting as Mom and Nana to many pets throughout the years.
Survivors include her daughters, Laurie Jo Taylor of Morrison, Lynn Renee (Steve) Akker of Mt. Morris, IL, and Shari Lynn Hanz of Erie, IL; son, Timothy Arlen (Mari) Kuehl of Grayslake, IL; nine grandchildren, Jason (Brittney) Klotz, Brandon Thomas Klotz, Jason (Katie) Akker, Andrew (Martha) Akker, Justin Hanz, Megan Shari Hanz, Jenna Bennett, Melissa (Chris) Redfern, and Shaun (Stephanie) Kuehl; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother-in-law, William “Billy” H. Kuehl, Jr.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Charles Boucher; sisters, Lois Boucher and Beverly (Burl) Doran; half-brothers, Marion Spencer, Junior Spencer, and Russell Spencer; half-sister, Myrtle Riggs.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
A memorial Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home.
Following the memorial Visitation, there will be a Graveside Service at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison, IL, starting at 3:30 p.m., officiated by Pastor John Pope, Chaplain, at Vitas Hospice.
