Editor’s note:  The “Hands Off!” protest initiative began on Saturday, April 5, 2025, as the largest display of public resistance against the second administration of President Donald Trump.  Organized under the “Hands Off!” banner, demonstrations voicing opposition to the administration’s policies occurred in over 1400 locations across all 50 States.  [April 5th] drew an estimated 3-5 million participants.  Click here to read what the “Hands Off!” movement is about.

Protests continue routinely and came to Morrison, IL, three weeks after they were begun.

On Saturday, April 26, 2025, between 1:00 and 2:30 p.m., crowds-on-each-corner gathered at the intersection of N. Cherry Street and E. Lincolnway, in Morrison, IL.  Social media informs where upcoming “Hands Off!” protest rallies will occur.  Some attendees attend rallies regularly.  Morrison attendees numbered “about 100,” on a sunny afternoon.  Citizens received a loud display of support from enthusiastic automobile/truck honks, hand waves, upturned thumbs, and smiles.

ABT Sauk Valley (below) and other out-of-towners participated in this protest.  Action For a Better Tomorrow is “a group of politically progressive people who are willing to work for a better tomorrow.”  They meet Mondays at AFSCME Hall, 662 Palmyra, Dixon, IL:  11:30 a.m. bring a sack lunch; noon-to-1:00 p.m. meeting.  Join them in person or on Facebook.

The focus of any “Hands Off” protest is against “the erosion of American values and Constitutional rights, at the hands of President Donald Trump and Elon Musk.”  A few areas of concern are listed.  The Federal Government is being urged to keep hands off:
•education
•Medicaid
•National Public Radio and Television
•voting rights
