Pictured is Arnie “The Farmer” Beswick seated in his first car–a 1950 Oldsmobile.  In 1954 it became the first car he raced, and Drag Racing history began!

Morrison Historical Society welcomes the public to pay homage to its home town Drag Racing legend, Arnie Beswick, on Saturday, November 9, 2024.  Doors open at 1:00 p.m., with a tribute kickoff of 1:30.  The venue is Ebenezer Reformed Church, 309 E. Park Street, Morrison, IL.

Directions from Highway 30:  Turn south onto Genesee Street; proceed five blocks; turn left onto E. South Street for one block.  The rear entry has automatic doors, an elevator, and steps to the Sanctuary.

Those who own fan gear are encouraged to wear it.  Come early to view two race cars in the parking lot [weather dependent] and take photos.  Briefly visit with the guest of honor and his four daughters:  Michelle Beswick, Rhonda Mitchell, Arnette Stralow, and Paula Wirsema.

After the program, merchandise will be for sale, and refreshments will be served downstairs.
